How To Know If You Have An Inflamed Gallbladder

Many people throughout the country are living with something that can potentially cause them a great deal of trouble in the future. Even now, they might possibly be in a great deal of pain. For the most part, an inflamed gallbladder is not the first culprit that comes to mind.

One of the leading causes of pain in the abdominal area is from an inflamed gallbladder. However, not a lot of people are even aware of what the gallbladder is, or what it does.

Gallbladder Function

The gallbladder is a small sac like organ behind and underneath the liver. It performs a very vital function in the overall digestive system. When the liver excretes bile for the breakdown of fats, cholesterol, and other harmful toxins in the digestive tract, this bile goes through the gallbladder first. If there is a gall bladder infection, then this process is disrupted.

Common Signs And Symptoms of Gall Bladder Inflammation

In order to make the final diagnosis of an inflamed gallbladder you will need to see your own physician, but there are ways you can have an idea. Several signs and symptoms of gallbladder problems are also common with other abdominal ailments as they are all a part of the same system. However, you can pinpoint an inflamed gallbladder by the accumulation of the following symptoms.

Abdominal Pain

The one symptom that will help you identify an inflamed gallbladder is abdominal pain. This pain will not only be located in the abdominal area, but on the right side just under the rib cage. This area will be very tender to the touch. Also, the pain can be quite severe at times. Gallbladder pain will be mostly after eating a meal, especially if the meal is high in fat and grease.

Chest Pain

It might feel like heartburn at first, but it will not go away with any type of heartburn medicine. This kind of symptom of an inflamed gallbladder can be misleading and will be more centrally located near the breastbone.

Jaundice

When there is a gall bladder infection or something wrong with the liver, the skin will get a yellow tint to it. This can be very clearly seen in the whites of the eyes. This jaundice occurs because of the excess buildup of bilirubin in the bile. If the gallbladder is affected by gallstones this biliruben will stay in the gallbladder, causing the jaundiced look.

Nausea and Dizziness

This symptom, which can be caused by a flu of some kind, is also an indicator of an inflamed gallbladder. However, taken with the rest of the symptoms you can be almost certain that you are experiencing a gallbladder attack or some type of gall bladder infection.

Once you have determined that you might be experiencing something wrong with your gall bladder, a visit to your doctor is recommended. They can make a more solid diagnosis and prescribe treatment or, if necessary, surgery.
